

Virginia Eloisa Garcia, died on Friday, March 21, 2025, in Phoenix, Az. She was born on June 30, 1942, to Frank & Molly Ortega of Ajo. She spent her childhood in the Indian village and her teenage years in Mexican town, neighborhood which no longer exist in Ajo. She graduated from Ajo High School in 1961. After high school she relocated to Los Angeles, California, for a short period of time. She returned to Ajo and worked for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department as a dispatcher, then eventually re-located to Phoenix. In the mid-1970s she returned to Los Angeles and worked for two law firms as a word processer for a number of years. Eventually she returned to Ajo and worked for the Tohono O’odham Nation as a secretary. In 2007 she retired and kept busy being a part of the Tohono O'odham Nation, organizing events and participating in the community. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Ajo. “While at home, she enjoyed doing puzzles, Sudoku, and watching western programs and sitting outside enjoying the sun and being in the company of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, “remembers her family. She survived by her daughters, Veronica Gonzales of Idaho and Sylvia Guerra of Ajo, by her brothers Leonard Ortega and Daniel Ortega, by her grandchildren, Gabriel Gonzalez, Art & Angel Delagado, Daniel & Amanda Machado, and Luis, Sylvia and Rikki Guerra, and by her great-grandchildren who include Julian, Leo and Apollo Delagado, Brandon, Isaiah and Victor Rivas Jr, Briana Delgado, Victor & Sebastian Machado, Rafael & Mia Guerra, Luis Guerra Jr, and Jacob & Layla Farabaugh.
Services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2024, Visitation will be at 541 Lomita Ave, Ajo, Arizona from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic church at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow at Ajo Cemetery.
