Aaron Shepherd passed away Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. Aaron was born in Onalaska, Wash., on March 18, 1936. He graduated from Chehalis High School and lived in Lewis County his entire life. Aaron and Joan Sanderson married after graduating from high school and they had two children, Brian and Brett.
Aaron married Yvonne Peiffer Fossett on Feb. 13, 1986, his soul mate for the rest of his life.
Aaron enjoyed life and had many different interests through his lifetime. He loved music and played trumpet in high school and later played with a dance band named the Melody Kings. His passion for music created a collection of thousands of records. He also enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting and fishing. Aaron spent several years involved with the Chehalis Little League serving as President of the league for at least one term. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Chehalis Eagles.
Aaron, in 1957, purchased a wholesale meat delivery business that he operated until 1968. He sold his business and became a real estate agent with Adolphsen Real Estate until 1972. He worked at The Yard Birds Shopping Center until he accepted a position with the Lewis County Assessor as an appraiser until his retirement.
Aaron enjoyed his retirement years with Yvonne at his side. He and Yvonne would like to travel and visit relatives in California, along the Oregon coast and to Arlington, Ore., to see Doc Severinsen in concert. Aaron didn't own a computer but would go to the library in Centralia and actively communicate with people on the internet. Walking, donating his time to certain organizations, working crossword puzzles everyday and becoming a rabid football fan filled his retirement years.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gayle Wold and Earl Shepherd, a brother, John and sister, JoAnne Hammons. He is survived by his wife, Yvonne at home, his sons, Brian, Bucoda and Brett, Chehalis, step-sons, George Fossett and Mike Fossett, Santa Rosa, Calif., Bill Fossett, San Francisco, Tim Fossett, Chehalis, and Rob Fossett, Olympia.
