Gloria Nadine Daniels passed away on April 8, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on August 20, 1932, in Seattle, Washington, and spent much of her life in the close-knit communities of Boistfort and Centralia.
Nadine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Daniels, along with many family members and dear friends. She is survived by her three children, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and four cherished “grandkitties,” leaving behind a legacy that spans generations.
A proud member of the Centralia High School Class of 1949—and the youngest in her class—Nadine showed early determination and independence. At age 15, she fibbed about her age to begin working as an usherette at the Liberty Theatre. Six months later, she moved to the Fox Theatre, where she worked as a cashier, operated the concession stand, and even wore a sandwich board outside to advertise the latest films. During her school years, she also demonstrated a gift for communication and leadership, contributing to the school newspaper and serving as editor of the 1949 yearbook, where she was one of four students featured on the cover.
As the wife of a soldier, Nadine spent much of the 1950s and 1960s living in Alaska, Colorado, Germany, Georgia, and California. The family eventually returned to the local area and settled in the Boistfort Valley.
Nadine later became widely recognized for her voice and presence on local radio. From 1979 until her retirement in the mid-1990s, she worked at KELA/KMNT, recording hundreds—if not thousands—of commercials, public service announcements, and “Best Buys.” Her voice became a familiar and trusted part of daily life throughout the community. She was also deeply involved in civic life, including many years with Zonta International, where she served as a local chapter president and was twice honored as Zontian of the Year.
Her commitment to service extended well beyond her professional work. From 1967 into the 1970s, Nadine led Girl Scout Junior Troop 42 in the Boistfort Valley, mentoring girls in leadership and community values. She also served as Sunday School Superintendent at Boistfort Community Church from the 1970s through the late 1990s, guiding and supporting the spiritual growth of countless young people.
In her later years, Nadine was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Centralia. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially playing pinochle with classmates and friends—a reflection of her lifelong love of connection and companionship.
Nadine will be laid to rest beside her husband at Forest Grove Cemetery in Tenino. At her request, no service is planned. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor her memory are invited to consider a donation toward the upkeep of the cemetery. Checks may be made payable to the Forest Grove Cemetery Association and mailed to PO Box 338, Tenino, WA 98589.
Nadine will be remembered for her warmth, her distinctive voice, her dedication to her community, and her enduring love for family and friends. Her life was one of service, connection, and quiet impact, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
