

Born on December 16, 1938, in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, to Samuel and Beulah Wilson, James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He shared 63 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary. Together they raised two sons and a daughter. Their daughter, Monica, passed away from medical complications in childhood and was forever remembered with love.
James proudly served 24 years in the United States Air Force, beginning in 1961. Trained in aircraft maintenance and integrated flight control systems, he earned numerous awards, including the Air Force Commendation Medal, and held presidential clearance to work on President Lyndon B. Johnson’s aircraft. His service included tours in Vietnam and Thailand, and his family lived in England for four years.
After retiring from the Air Force in 1985, James continued his aviation career with Rockwell on the B-1 aircraft and later with Boeing, working on the B-2 program. He retired from Boeing in 2002. In retirement, he enjoyed camping, time with his family, and his dog, Ladybug.
James is survived by his wife Mary; sons Rodney (wife Tony) and Erick; grandchildren Airika (Joe), Kendra, and Daniel (Daisy); and great-grandchildren Cadence, Kehlani, Emily, Natalie, Deliza, and Delilah. He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, and his daughter Monica.
Graveside services will be held at Claquato Cemetery, 142 Stearns Road, Chehalis, Washington, at 2:00 p.m. on January 8, 2026.
