Kathleen grew up in a large family that made their home in Lewis County.
Joyce married George “Al” Schmitt, and together, they raised five children, Lonni Schmitt of Olympia, Eric Schmitt of Hillsboro, Ore., Shelli Schmitt of Centralia,Wendy Macy of Naselle and Carrie Anna Schmitt in Heaven, Her home was located at 202 South Street, Centralia, and Joyce crafted an environment that allowed her children to thrive and succeed. She loved her children unconditionally and they never doubted that love. She encouraged them to dream, set goals and to become all that they could be; but, the priority within the four walls of home was the certainty of eternal life found in a relationship with Jesus. This reality was the driving force of her life and she so desired that her children find Jesus and follow HIM.
Friends and family knew Joyce as one with a good sense of humor, committed to friends and family, and ever so joyful! She so loved her life and lived faithfully, until her final breath Nov. 1, 2017.
Siblings include sisters, Hilda Horstman of Ocean Shores, Laura Burks of Chehalis, Shirley Noddin of Olympia, and Regina Butler of Olympia; and brother, Albert Stanfield of Longview.
