The two also attended Oregon State College. George and Marian were married Feb. 9, 1952, in Chehalis, Wash., and moved to Morton, Wash., during George’s short career in the logging industry. Due to an industrial accident, George and Marian moved to Seattle, where their two children were born and George finished his college degree at the University of Washington.
Marian worked at various jobs throughout the state, as her husband pursued his career as a high school science teacher, a football coach and then, as Vice Principal of Centralia High School. One of Marian’s most interesting positions was as a draftsman in Bridgeport, Wash., planning for the resulting land configurations after establishing a new dam on the Columbia River. Marian’s final and longest career path was as an administrator; acting as assistant to the Night School Director at Centralia College.
Marian was a member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Centralia for nearly 50 years. She was active in various groups, where she enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband. After his death in 2000, she continued to travel with friends and relatives.
