Vallorie Gail Boothby, 73, passed away on December 5th, 2023, at home in Lacey Washington. She was born on February 26th, 1950, in Seattle Washington to Malcolm M. and Esther May (Reed) Bowen. She was the only girl in a house with three boys. She graduated from Ramona High School in Riverside California in 1968. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Larry G. Boothby. Together, they raised a daughter, Shannon, and a son, Kirk. She worked as a Volunteer Corps Coordinator for Fort Lewis.
Vallorie loved sewing. She made quilts and Halloween costumes for her grandchildren. She enjoyed her time volunteering at cancer treatment facilities. She loved helping the patients going through their treatment and supporting the nurses. She was an advocate for cancer patients and was deeply affected by the death of her daughter from cancer in 2016. To help wind down at the end of a busy day, she enjoyed drinking wine in the hot tub. She loved getting together with friends, especially when wine and champagne was involved. She would meet up often with her friends and visit Seabrook, her favorite place. Spending time with her grandchildren was what was most important to Vallorie. Vallorie loved her family. Family get-togethers were very special to her. Organizing family events, especially the Easter egg hunt, was her way of keeping the family together. She also loved caring for her dogs, Carly and Marley.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry, her parents Malcolm and Esther Bowen, her daughter Shannon Lee (Boothby) Godlewski and son Larry Kirk Boothby. She is survived by grandchildren Gabrielle and Devin Godlewski; Vince Boothby; Zachary, JD and Chase Clark; son-in-law Steven Godlewski; and bonus-daughter Sarah Clark.
The Boothby family would like to thank the family and friends who visited and helped out in Vallorie’s final weeks, Dr Bryd, and the nurses and aides at Providence SouthHome Care and Hospice.
