

Betty was born on December 28, 1935 in Kingston, Tennessee to the late Ernest Alvin and Genettie Caudle Ladd. She was a longtime member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday School class. She loved the church and served in many capacities. Betty, along with her late husband Buddy, especially loved working with the youth groups and youth leaders. They went on numerous mission and beach trips, conducting Bible Schools in backyards and parks. They also worked paper drives to raise money for the youth program.
Betty worked for over 33 years for the Charlotte Merchants Association and retired from Equifax Risk Management. She was a member of the International Credit Associates, Credit Women International and The Society of Certified Credit Executives.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Marion A. (Buddy) Whitten, sisters Lydia Crowe and Imogene Zuydwegt, and brothers Ralph Ladd, Clarence Ladd and Boyd Ladd. She is survived by her son Jeff (Page) Whitten of Mint Hill, NC; grandchildren Laura P. Whitten of Charlotte, NC, Daniel (Laura E.) Whitten of Mint Hill, NC; great grandchildren Abel, Nora and Ladd Whitten of Mint Hill, NC; brothers R.W. Ladd of Harriman, TN, Avery (Becky) Ladd of Kingston, TN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Clear Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kind and loving care given to Betty during her short stay there. Also, special thanks to her home caregiver Angie McGee. Her sweet loving spirit was a blessing to Betty and her family and the impact she made on all of our lives was profound.
The family will receive friends from 12:30pm-1:30pm on Saturday March 28, 2026 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 1:30pm. Private interment for the family will be held at Sunset Memory Gardens.
