“Bill”
William Henry Bigham, Sr., 68, of Matthews, NC, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, August 30, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital Matthews. Bill was the son of Lola Williamson Bigham and the late Henry Porter Bigham, Jr. After retiring from the US Postal Service, he found his passion in building log cabins for charitable organizations, especially One Special Christmas and the Rural Hill historic site.
The family extends special thanks to the nurses and staff of Presbyterian Hospital Matthews who cared for Bill in his final days.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Sandra, and two sons Henry Bigham of Matthews and Scott Bigham of Chapel Hill. He is also survived by two brothers, Butch Bigham and his wife Gloria of Indian Trail and Jim Bigham and partner Cathy of Oak Island, a sister, Barbara Porter and her husband Vance of Stallings, three nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bill’s family will be holding a private funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memoriam to the Rural Hill historic site, 4431 Neck Road, Huntersville, NC 28078.
