Brenda was born on April 12,1943 in Charlotte, North Carolina, to the late Cletus and Raymelle Miller. She graduated from Harrisburg High School and attended Appalachian State University.
Brenda married Jack Allen in 1962. They lived in Albemarle for a time before moving back to Charlotte. She was homemaker raising their two daughters, Jenny and Karen, when Jack was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and unable to work outside the home. At that point, Brenda began working as a secretary in the business office at Charlotte Memorial Hospital, now Atrium Healthcare. She would eventually become a manager in patient accounting and retire after 40 years of service in 2009. She enjoyed her time at the hospital and made many good friends.
Brenda followed in her mother’s footsteps and was very involved in her community and church. Her family were founding members of Robinson Presbyterian Church and Brenda was a lifelong member raising her family in the church as well. She was an ordained Deacon and Elder and served as an officer in the Women of the Church. After retiring you could often find her volunteering with the church at the Charlotte Rescue Mission or at the food bank. Brenda loved spending her time gardening, cooking for her loved ones and reading a good book. She was most proud of her three grandchildren, Josh, Miller and Eli.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Aubrey Jackson Allen; brother, Dwight Miller; and sister, Gwendolyn Miller Turbiville.
Brenda is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Allen Holley and Karen Allen Webb(Howie); her grandchildren, Joshua Allen Holley, Miller Elizabeth Webb, and Elliot Charles Webb; and many other loving extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Robinson Presbyterian Church, 9424 Harrisburg Road, Charlotte, North Carolina.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brookdale Weddington Park for their love and care of Brenda during the last year.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brenda's memory to Robinson Presbyterian Church.
