Brenda Cowan Huffstetler (79), of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed peacefully through the gates of heaven on Monday, August 23rd at her home with her beloved husband, Charles by her side. She now joins her son, Kevin Huffstetler who predeceased her in 1981.
Brenda is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 62 years, Charles Huffstetler; her daughter, Kim Stringer (husband, Robby); her son, Jon Huffstetler (wife, Kim); and her sister, Rhonda Simpson. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her beloved grandchildren: Katie and Tanner Stringer; Ethan, Emma, and Allison Huffstetler.
Brenda was born on December 13, 1941 in Charlotte, NC to the late Ty and Thelma Cowan. In addition to her son and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Sylvia Childers and Debbie Moore.
Brenda was the beloved matriarch of her family, offering support, strength, and the drive to overcome any hardship the family faced. She was a loving wife and mother as well as a doting grandmother. Faithfully leading by example, she strived to instill in her children and grandchildren the most important lessons in life – unconditional love, faith, generosity, compassion, and joy. She leaves behind a memorable legacy of love, selflessness and service to others that will last an eternity.
Unwavering in her faith and devotion to God, we rejoice in the knowledge that she was able to walk through the gates of Heaven into the loving arms of her Savior.
The family would like to thank her CNA, Heather Meadows, for the years of loving care she provided Brenda. Brenda loved Heather, and they developed a special friendship. We also appreciate the care provided by the dedicated Hospice staff.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00PM Friday, August 27, 2021 at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, NC, with her memorial service to follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.
