Born March 22, 1988 in Mint Hill, North Carolina, Brittany was a daughter of Donald Lee “Donnie” Reed and Beverly Jaynes Reed. She was a graduate of Butler High School, where she was a proud member of the show choir. While at Butler, Brittany once sung a solo in a Christmas program that is still aired each year on PBS.
Brittany overflowed with her love for Jesus Christ, and this love poured out on those around her. She was a lifelong member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church and was among the first babies to be dedicated in the church’s new Worship Center. She enjoyed playing softball for the church for eleven years and sung on the praise team at the church’s north campus. Despite her father's insistence that she could play professional softball, she instead decided on a career in nursing; following in her mother's footsteps.
Brittany was born to be a nurse. She graduated from Presbyterian School of Nursing at Queens. At the time of her graduation, Brittany was the youngest person to graduate from their nursing program. While a student, she worked at Presbyterian Hospital. Brittany worked as a Registered Nurse at Presbyterian Matthews, before transferring to the Special Maternity Unit at Presbyterian Charlotte. Most recently, she was working in the Stepdown Intensive Care Unit at Carolinas Medical Center-Main. During her career as a nurse she touched the lives of many people; she will be remembered by her co-workers and her patients as one of the most loving people they have ever met.
Besides her passion for helping people, Brittany loved a great many things in her ever too brief time with us. She loved Manga, Anime, singing, reading science fiction, musicals, video games, and movies. Most recently she loved spending time with her son; going to the park and watching him climb, teaching him how to dance, and taking him to the pool and watching him splash around. She absolutely loved her family, and always made it clear that family was one of the most important things in the world to her.
She also loved a boy named Sean Suggett. Brittany met her future husband in High School at Hickory Grove's Camp Paradise. While trying to console him after a break-up, Brittany fell in love and shortly after introduced him to her parents. The Reeds welcomed him with open arms. Sean asked Brittany's father for permission to spend the rest of their lives together and Donnie replied with, "I'd never be able to afford the therapy if you weren't a part of this family"... Sean and Brittany had been married for six years at the time of her passing.
Brittany was preceded in death by her grandfather, M.S. Jaynes.
She leaves behind her best friend and loving husband, Sean Quintin Suggett; her precious 18 month old son, Aiden Quintin Suggett; her parents, Donnie and Beverly Reed; her brother and sister, Andy and Ashley Reed; her grandmother, Joyce Jaynes; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Carolyn Suggett.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015, in the Worship Center at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, with a funeral service immediately following at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Clint Pressley and the Reverend John Harrill will officiate.
