Carol Sue Aljets

She was born on 2 June 1948 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to William D. Duckworth and Gilberta L. (Florman) Duckworth. She met Gary Aljets in 1971 while they were both serving in the U.S. Navy and were joined in marriage on 18 December 1971. They are the proud parents of three children, Stephen (Cristi), Diana (Eric Dohrman) and Jessica (Justin) Ewert. She was the proudest grandmother of her seven grandchildren David, Nathan and, Isabella Aljets, Logan and Scarlett Dohrman, and Maddox and Bennett Ewert.

Carol enjoyed learning and earned degrees in Industrial Engineering, Bachelors of Science in Sociology, a Paralegal Certificate, and Master’s Degrees in both Sociology and later in Accounting. She was able to use the sociology with the engineering to spend several years in the field of engineering. Carol was willing to sacrifice her career to follow Gary’s career and worked in various places winding up in her dream job as a college professor. Her proudest professional achievement was serving in the U.S. Navy, doing so in the Naval Reserve and retiring as a Commander. Her Naval career took them to a lot of wonderful places and meeting some of the best people in the world.

Her life was one of sacrifice and she pushed her family, especially her children, to do their best in whatever endeavor they chose. She encouraged them to be strong, independent, and to give their all to serve their families and their community.

The family would like to thank the medical teams and Novant Matthews and Novant (Presby) in Charlotte for their wonderful care during her last fight in life. We also want to thank our neighbors, church and friends who have been there for us during this difficult time. You have been more support than words can express.

Carol is also survived by a brother, James and a niece, Tracy Duckworth from Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Larry.

Funeral services with be at South Park Christian Church in Charlotte on 26 October. The service will be at 1:00 with a reception afterwards.
