Carol Sue Weidler, a beloved educator, lifelong learner, and cherished family matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, in Matthews, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 31st, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, she was the eldest of five siblings.
Carol was a radiant light in our lives, known for her positivity, love of life and her sharp wit.
She earned a B.S. in English in May 1963 from the University of Dayton and graduated valedictorian of her class. She was also a Dayton Flyerette, showcasing her love for dance. In 1984 she earned a master’s degree in communications from Wright State University.
Carol’s passion for education blossomed into a 40-year teaching career, beginning at Van Buren middle school in Kettering, Ohio, in 1963 and concluding at Fairmont West high school in 2003. Her creative and engaging teaching style endeared her to both students and fellow educators.
While nurturing her career, Carol also embraced motherhood, welcoming Jeffrey (1964), Jennifer (1965), and Benjamin (1974). Her dedication to learning extended beyond the classroom, as she later taught communication classes to senior citizens and writing to elder adults at Matthews Glen.
Carol loved to travel and had fond memories of a special trip to Ireland for her 75th birthday with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed Florence, Italy with her husband, Raymond.
