Our beloved “Mimi” Catherine Jean Wood Ferguson, 78, of Charlotte North Carolina, walked into her Saviors’ arms on Thursday morning, October 18th, 2018, at Novant Health Hospice and Palliative Care. Cathy was born November 23rd, 1939, to the late William Monroe Wood and Eunice Wood Hollifield, of Spartanburg County, South Carolina.
Cathy was a dedicated member of Plaza Baptist Church in the NoDa community for over 25 years. There, she was also an active member of “The Pillars Group” at the church. Throughout the years, this core foundation group enjoyed numerous activities together such as traveling, community outreach events, and making a difference in lives within, and beyond the doors of the church. She retired in March of 2005 from Superior Printing Ink Company.
She also carried a strong work ethic and was always on the go. Cathy loved to bake, and expend her time crocheting pieces to charitably donate among friends and family. In many homes, you can find her washcloths, prayer shawls, and baby blankets that she spent countless, heartfelt hours creating. Her generous heart was plentiful to all, but her passion was to love her friends, family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren unconditionally.
She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James Richard Ferguson; brother, William Wood, Jr. and wife, Jean; daughters, Debbie Reynolds and husband, Pete, and Donna Pigford and husband, Eric; four grandchildren, Brandon Hines and wife, Melinda, Patrick Hines, Ashley Taylor and husband, Brian, and Dylan Pigford; and three great-grandchildren, Jerzi, Corbin, and Tucker.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm, Monday, October 22, 2018, at Plaza Baptist Church, 3321 The Plaza in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm. The Reverend David A. Gales will officiate. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
