

Charles “Chuck” Liley was born in St Louis, MO in 1947 to parents James and Helen. He joined the United States Army in 1973 and served in active duty retiring as a Colonel in 1993. He was a long time resident of El Paso, TX and Tucson, AZ where he taught dental and wildlife programs at the local colleges. In 2021 he moved to Matthews, NC to be closer to his son and grandkids. Chuck lived a life of adventure. He was an avid fly fisherman who enjoyed camping and the great outdoors. He also worked as a rafting guide on the Colorado River in Grand Canyon. His passions were snakes and birds, and of course his grandchildren who know him PopPop. Survived by wife Tana, son Wesdon, and grandchildren Caitlin and Matthew.
A visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, located at 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227, on December 31, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The committal service will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144, on January 2, 2026, at 12:30 pm. Charles Howard Liley's final resting place will be at Salisbury National Cemetery Annex.
