Charlotte Carolyn Helms

Charlotte was born on July 2, 1930, in Charlotte, North Carolina. On March 23, 1947, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Dillon "Chunk" Helms and later graduated from Tech High School in 1948.

Charlotte and Kenneth shared three children, Kenneth Jr., Diane, and Keith. Charlotte was a devoted wife and mother to her family. She was overjoyed when she became a grandmother to her six grandchildren and great grandmother to her sixteen great grandchildren.

She worked for many years at Calvary Baptist Church where she became very dear friends with the staff and members. She was a long time member of Midwood Baptist Church and a founding member of Living Faith Baptist Church. Charlotte leaves behind a legacy of faith and family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Dillon Helms and her grandson, Justin Bunker.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth D. Helms, Jr. and his wife, Jan of Durham, NC, Diane Helms Bunker and her husband, Steve of Indian Trail, NC and Keith V. Helms and his wife, Jane of Matthews, NC. Charlotte is also survived by her grandchildren, Melinda Sander, Adam Bunker, Brendon Helms, Hannah Smith, Erin Reynolds and 16 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Charlotte will be held Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Midwood Baptist Church, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM, 2029 Mecklenburg Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205. A committal service will occur Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212.
