

Born in Monroe in 1935, Christine lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and devotion to those she cherished.
A true Servant of Christ, Christine was known for her steadfast love for God, her warm spirit, and her willingness to share her faith with others. She was a dedicated and faithful member of First Assembly of God, where many will fondly remember her Christian example, her gentle heart, and the deep affection she held for her family.
Christine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, cooking delicious Southern meals, and witnessing to others about the goodness of God. Her family lovingly describes her as “loving, Godly, and amazing,” a reflection of the beautiful life she lived.
She is survived by her children, Johnny Helms, Larry Helms, Bobby Helms and wife, Carla Gentry, and Lea Helms; grandchildren, Carrie Jackson, Lisa Dombrowski, Kendra Lewis, Tiffany Tallent, Bobby Helms, Jr., and Brittany Marlin; as well as many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Angela Deese Morrison and Doris Mullis.
Christine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vern Helms; brothers, Charles Deese, Pastor Ray Deese and Ronnie Deese; sister, Faye Chasteen; and her parents, Parley Deese and Annie Deese.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, located at 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227.The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the chapel.
Christine will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd, Charlotte, NC 28212.
