

David was born on June 15th, 1941 in Marion, North Carolina. During his childhood years, he resided in Spruce Pine, North Carolina. He was retired from Rexham Corporation in Matthews, North Carolina. Following his retirement, he enjoyed working selling cars in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was an ordained deacon and also a mason at Mint Hill Masonic Lodge, Mint Hill, North Carolina and member of Benton Crossroads Baptist Church, Monroe North Carolina. His hobbies included golfing and working on numerous projects. He was saved and baptized in 1975 with his daughter Lisa Hafer Hite at Arlington Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina. David will be remembered by his huge, generous loving and giving heart. He was a very loving man who always put others before himself and had such a selfless love, who never met a stranger. David had a strong testimony and never feared or hesitated sharing the Word of God with anyone.
David will be greatly missed and is survived by his beloved wife Marcella (Marty) Hafer of 63 years, daughters Dama Lynne Hafer Barkley (husband Rusty), Lisa Hafer Hite (husband Ketih), grandchildren Mary Lynne Barkley, Kristina Dawn Hite (step); John David Barkley, Maegan Dama DeJong and Ramsey Kate Rogers and great grandchildren Madden Green, Desiree Green and Jude and Jackson. He is also survived by many great and loving cousins and half-brother.
David is predeceased by his great aunt, Elizabeth Burleson Cobble, mother, Martha Helen Hafer, father Ulysses Grant Luke Hafer, half-sister Judy Wyndham, grandson Curt Landon DeJong, Jr., half-brother, Al Hafer and grandson Michael Scott Green.
