David Preston Washington was born June 19,1938 in Georgetown, British Guiana (Guyana). He was the son of the late Preston Washington and Daphne Northey. He departed this life on February 21, 2025 in the comfort of his home in Monroe, NC.
David left Guyana and moved to Brooklyn New York as a young adult excited to take on the world. There, he met and was united in marriage with Yolande Washington, and to this union, two children were born. David was employed with American Airlines (JFK Airport) for several years before retiring and relocating to North Carolina. While on this earth, David touched the lives of many people with his warm smile, sense of humor, and caring nature.
David leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years Yolande Washington; his children, Elizabeth and Sharon; his grandchildren, Christian, Madison, Amanda and Gabrielle; brother, Henry; sisters, Gertrude, Edith, Brenda, Gemma, Joy.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
David will always remain in our hearts.
A celebration of life for David will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
