Donnie Clifton Mullis

Mr. Mullis was born April 21, 1940 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Rozelle and Wilma Mullis. He was a proud graduate of East Mecklenburg High School, Charlotte College and attended North Carolina State University. He married his high school sweetheart, Sara Butler Mullis, on June 26, 1960 and they remained happily married for 63 years.

Mr. Mullis devoted his life to his family and his career. He was a member of the East Mecklenburg Lions Club and served as a board member and president of the Executive Club of Charlotte, having been a charter member.

Mr. Mullis dedicated over 60 years of his life to C. R. Mullis Oil Company, starting out as a truck driver and eventually becoming president and owner. He served on the board and later as president of the North Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association, and he also served as a member of the Petroleum Marketers Association of America. He received the distinguished Will Parker Memorial Award from NCPMA, which is the highest award for personal and professional achievement. He worked diligently through NCPMA to promote and improve his industry and mentored many young people in the process.

Mr. Mullis was preceded in death by his parents and by his wife Sara. He is survived by his children Clifton M. Mullis and his wife Monica of Mint Hill, NC, and Christopher R. Mullis and his wife Rita of Charlotte, NC. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren Leah Mullis, Ryan Mullis, Seven Mullis and Emersyn Mullis, and by his brother Wayne Mullis.

A graveside service for Donnie will be held Saturday, August 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Rd, Mint Hill, NC 28227. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Family Life Center.
