Emil grew up and went to school in Schwende, Appenzell, Switzerland. He completed his apprenticeship in St Gallen, Switzerland. He started in the restaurant industry when he moved to Montreal, Canada; and managed the restaurant in Toe Blake's Tavern for several years. He eventually established his own restaurant, La Cremiere. Emil belonged to the Swiss National Society. He also enjoyed golf, was an avid skier, played tennis, enjoyed Swiss folk music, playing cards and backgammon, and was part of a bowling league for many years. His sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Emil is survived by his wife of 70 years, Silvia Ulmann Boppart; his daughter, Nancy Ulmann Goodelle (Michael); his grandchildren, Michael Goodelle and Samantha Goodelle; his sister, Mina Haas-Ulmann; his brothers, Josef Ulmann and Albert Ulmann (Heidi); and many other loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Services will be held privately.
Our heartfelt thanks to Father Paul from St. Luke Catholic Church, and our Hospice team from Gentiva, Allen, Samantha, Kendra, Itestal and Jeremy.
