Evelyn Kathleen Howell

Born June 1, 1941 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Evelyn was a daughter of the late Julius and Frances Weaver. She spent her life caring for people, especially children, during both good times and difficult times. Evelyn enjoyed shopping and playing jokes on people.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Larry Melvin Howell, Sr.; her children, Barbara Howell Adair, Larry Melvin Howell, Jr., and Mary Diane Foust; her sisters, Elaine Williams and Carolyn Harris; and her nephew, Teddy Ray Gillian, Jr.

She is survived by her grandson, Bobby Foust of Salisbury; her granddaughter, Tonya Keller and husband, Chris, of Florida; her two great-grandchildren, Lukas and Kristen; her sister, Joyce Darst; and her nieces and nephews, Tammy Geelen, Deborah Barefoot, Patricia Suttle, Tommy Darst and Dale Darst.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from 1:00 until 2:30 pm Saturday, August 19, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service to follow at 2:30 pm in the funeral home chapel. The Reverend Jeff Barbee will officiate. Interment will immediately follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Donations can be made to any organization that raises awareness to fight and find a cure to cancer.
