

Fairfax Harrison, 86, died peacefully at home on September 15, 2010. Heaven has gained an angel and he is now with his beloved wife of 63 years, Bessie (Moncey) Harrison. Fair was born September 11, 1924 in Rowan County, NC.
He raised his family and worked in Charlotte, NC. He served his country and was a World War II veteran. Fair, known as No-Neck, worked for Southern Railway and retired after 45 years of service. He was also a self-taught NC licensed Auctioneer and known throughout NC for his quick wit and fun filled auctions.
Fairfax owned "Parkwood Bargain Shop", a second hand store, in north Charlotte for twenty-seven years and was loved by the patrons. If someone in that area needed food, clothing, heating or anything necessary for living, Fairfax would take care of them because of his caring heart for others.
He was a devoted Christian and family man with a beautiful faith and love of God. He was President of the Methodist Men of St. Luke United Methodist Church for twenty-five years and spent most of his life giving and helping his church.
Fairfax is survived by his children, Farra Ann Porter (John) of Mint Hill, NC, Paul Kelly Harrison (Vickie) of Little River, SC, Kay Fairfax Harrison of Charlotte, NC, and Anthony Carrol (Jim) Harrison of the home. He is also survived by seven loving grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and by one sister, Lucille Bowers of California.
Visitation will be held at McEwen Funeral Home in Mint Hill, NC from 4 to 7pm on Thursday, September 16, 2010. Funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, September 17, 2010 at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 2019 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC and he will be laid to rest beside his wife following the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, Fairfax has requested that donations be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church Budget, 2019 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28205.
A loving, caring, kind and wonderful Daddy, Granddaddy and friend has gone Home but will live in our hearts forever.
