

She was born on October 31, 1924 on Staten Island, NY to the late Nicholas and Ethel Berke Soloman.
Gladys was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church on Staten Island, where she served faithfully, sang in the choir, was a Girl Scout leader and taught dance with her husband, Vincent. After moving to Charlotte in 1979, she joined Cokesbury United Methodist Church. There she was active in the PrimeTimers and Circle Sarah. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing with the Groovy Grovers. She loved watching baseball, playing the piano, watching sunsets on summer vacations, and eating chocolate. She always looked forward to annual trips to Disney with her daughters and granddaughters. She was the heart of her family and loved by her daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gladys is survived by her five daughters: Patricia Grimes, Judy Sullivan and Deborah Benton (Michael) of Charlotte, Bonnie DiMauro (Gerard) and Lorraine Grimes (Richard) of Delaware; eight grandchildren: Richard Giordano (Terri), Lisa Porta, Michael Giordano, David Muller, Bryan Muller, Gregory Giordano, Christopher Benton (Jami) and Heather Benton; and 13 great grandchildren.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Vincent J. Grimes, one sister and two brothers.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church, 6701 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212. A private graveside will be held.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to Cokesbury United Methodist Church.
