

He was born on October 24, 1944, in San Antonio, TX, to Gordon Morgan Singletary and Virginia (Haga) Singletary.
Mr. Singletary graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte and attended a trade school for two years.
He married Janis Fort on July 3, 1989, in Charlotte.
Mr. Singletary owned and operated Amity Automotive Services for over forty years.
He loved doting on his granddaughters and was a very proud father to both of his sons. He was an avid sports fan and deer hunter. He was a member of the J and G Hunt Club and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Janis, Mint Hill, NC; his two sons, Trip (Sharon) Singletary, and Heath Singletary, all of Charlotte; his two granddaughters, Morgan and Allie; his mother, Virginia Singletary, Charlotte; two sisters, Peggy (Gary) Hinson, Fayetteville, NC, and Laura Singletary, Midland, NC; his faithful companion, Max; many nieces and nephews; and his favorite in-law.
His family will receive friends on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at the McEwen Mint Hill Chapel.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gordon, and his mother-in-law, Violet S. Fort.
