Gregory James "Greg" Culpepper

Born January 13, 1950 in Jacksonville, Florida, Greg lived a life full of warmth, curiosity, and laughter. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School and continued his education at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Greg was a man of deep faith and a devoted member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. His love for Jesus and his country was evident in every conversation, often punctuated by his signature greeting: “Hey man.” Whether he was shag dancing at the beach, casting a line on a quiet morning, or teeing off with friends, Greg brought joy and connection to every moment.

He was sociable, curious, and humorous—traits that made him unforgettable to everyone he met. Greg had a gift for making people feel seen and heard, and he cherished getting to know others. His greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren, visiting the beach, and sharing stories that made everyone laugh.

Greg is survived by his beloved daughters, Brandy Marie Culpepper Ritchey and Amber Nicole Culpepper Frizzell; his cherished grandchildren, Annabelle Ritchey, Jacob Ritchey, Isabelle (Izzie) Frizzell, and Ezekiel (Zeke) Frizzell; and his brother, Bill Culpepper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Lester Culpepper and Mary Helen Culpepper; and siblings, Guy Culpepper, Lynne V. Culpepper, and Ken Culpepper, Jr.

Greg will be remembered for his engaging personality, his unwavering faith, and the way he made everyone feel like a friend. His legacy lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the stories shared by those who loved him, and the countless lives he touched with a simple “Hey man.”

A visitation for Greg will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Harris Campus Chapel, 7200 E. WT Harris Boulevard in Charlotte, with a Celebration of Life following at 11:00 AM.
