

Born on August 17, 1927, in Charlotte, North Carolina, she attended Central High School and built a life defined by dedication, sweetness, and unwavering loyalty.
Ikie was a longtime member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church, the Knot Just Knitting Club, and the Swinging Seniors Bowling League. She found joy in game shows, Find‑A‑Word puzzles, knitting and crocheting, gardening, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends. She will be remembered most for her warm personality, sense of humor, loving nature, and gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wriston Lee Deese; six brothers; three sisters; and two grandsons, Alan Deese and Cameron Deese.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Aaron Eugene “Gene” Deese (Faye Deese), Robert Dale Deese, Wayne Lee Deese (Wendy Adams), and Shelia Deese Moore (Roger Moore, Sr.). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Deese (Shee), Cheri Early (Eric), Crystal Smith (Jay), Jeremy Deese (Kelsey), Ashley Moore Baker (Christopher), and Roger Moore, Jr. (Lauren); step‑grandchildren, Jarred O’Brien (Sarah) and Christina O’Brien; 20 great‑grandchildren; two great‑great‑grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service–Mint Hill Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be private.
