Mr. James Dowd McEwen, Jr., 75, of Mint Hill, NC, passed away November 11, 2017. He was born November 19, 1941 in Charlotte, NC, son of the late James Dowd McEwen Sr., and Wilma Flowe McEwen. Mr. McEwen graduated from East Mecklenburg High School, Wingate Junior College and Erskine College. He retired as an accountant for Bank of America.
Mr. McEwen is survived by his daughter, Laurie Blackwelder and her husband Billy, son , Steve McEwen and his wife Marty, son, Michael McEwen and his fiancée, Amy Lombardo; grandchildren, Jeremy Garner, Kristen Mims, and her husband Johnathon, Jake McEwen, Emma McEwen, and step-grandson, Sam Blackwelder. Mr. McEwen was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Mary Lee Browning McEwen. He was also preceded in death by wife, Janice Haire McEwen.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 15, 2017 from 11:00a.m. until 12:00p.m. at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel in Mint Hill. A graveside service will follow the visitation at 12:30p.m. in Evergreen Burial Park on Bain School Road in Mint Hill.
