A 1956 graduate of Lincoln High School in Canton, Mrs. Sprout lived a life defined by faith, family, and love. Three words that best capture her spirit are Christian, a loving mom, and Grammy. She was a devoted lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
Janet enjoyed quiet moments with a good book and never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite teams—the Ohio State Buckeyes and her local football teams. She will be fondly remembered for her deep love of family and her dedicated involvement in church activities alongside of her late husband, James G. Sprout. Jan was also preceded in death by her loving parents Earl and Bea Mathias.
She is survived by her two loving daughters, Jody Toth (Paul) and Jeri Goldinger (Bruce); her cherished grandchildren, Brandon Toth, Kelsey Toth, Conner Toth, Jordan Goldinger (Vivian), and Logan Goldinger (Kasey); and her beloved great grandchildren, Maddox, Mila, Liam, Addison, and Grayson. She is also survived by her dear sister, Sandy Rickenbrode.
A celebration of Janet’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at McEwen Funeral Service–Mint Hill Chapel. The family will receive guests following the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the Pruitt Health Hospice team for their compassionate care on moms final journey to her eternal home.
