

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011 from the chapel of McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Rd., Charlotte, with Reverend Leland Stephens officiating. Interment will follow the service in the adjoining cemetery. The family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel.
Mr. Hildreth was born January 19, 1936 in Mecklenburg County. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Hildreth and by his beloved wife, Joanne Hildreth, who passed away in 2007. Jerry attended Central High School and was a former member of Grace Baptist Church and more recently attended The Church at the Crossroads. He was formerly employed with the Charlotte News and was later a Sales Representative with Bristol Products for fifteen years. Mr. Hildreth retired from the Medical Supply Department of Carolinas Healthcare Systems. Jerry coached baseball and basketball with CYAC for several years and he enjoyed gardening and pier fishing at the beach.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Hildreth and his wife, Laura of Indian Trail, NC, Greg Hildreth and his fiancée Marie Colbert of Matthews, NC, and Stephen Hildreth of Charlotte; and grandchildren, Allison Barr and her husband, Peter, Andy Hildreth and his wife, Carla, Hannah Hildreth, and Olivia Hildreth.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Union County, Hospice House, for their kind and compassionate care of Mr. Hildreth during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110-3437.
