

John William "Jay" Polson, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, died peacefully in the Harris Hospice Unit of Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center on Thursday morning, the 9th of May 2013, surrounded by his loving and supportive family. He was 71 years old.
Born the 30th of July 1941 in Wadesboro, North Carolina, Jay was the son of the late Eugene Polson and Gertrude Horne Wallace. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist’s Mate. Jay was as a supervisor with Freightliner and Fontaine Truck Modification. He was a member of Central Church of God.
Jay leaves behind his loving wife of 48 years, Peggy Hill Polson; son, Clint Polson and wife, Lisa, of Indian Trail; daughters, Rena Taylor and husband, Paul, of Mooresville, and Shannon Adkins and husband, Terry, of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Sydney, Faith, Lance, Christian, Jaylin and Terris; and sisters, Karen Eller of Wadesboro, and Jeannie Oliver of Chesterfield, South Carolina.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from six o’clock until eight o’clock Sunday evening at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. The funeral service is to be conducted at one o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, the 13th of May, at Central Church of God, 5301 Sardis Road in Charlotte. The Reverend Greg Baker will officiate. The interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
