I remember working with Joe in District 20. He was a breath of fresh air in that stuffy environment. We bonded because I lived in Woodside and was a delegate for the Union. He was always out front when called, and always gave direction to those of us that needed it. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My prayers go out to Vivian and the family. I'll be sure to "hoist" a few in the honor of a REAL Transit Cop!! Tis a shame we all go when the whistle blows! R.I.P Brother.

Dear Vivian and Family,
You have my deepest condolences for your loss and Joe will always be in my prayers. Joe and I joined the Transit Police Family on June 30, 1969 and attended the Police Academy together where our friendship started. We were all very lucky to have known him. Rest in peace my friend and until we meet again.

I am very sad that Joe has passed on. We were partners for many years in Fare Evasion Unit, and Joe was a great guy and wonderful to work with.
My world has been saddened by his loss, and I wish his entire family   my sincerest condolences.

I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Joseph Corrigan.  I was fortunate to have the privilege of knowing and working with Joe in the NYC Transit Police Department.  We worked together in District 20  Roosevelt Avenue in the 80's.  He was a great cop and a perfect gentleman.  At that time only three female police officers worked in that command and I can say that myself and my colleagues (Dianna & Eileen) loved working with Joe.  Please accept my sincere condolences.  My thoughts and prayers are with the Corrigan family during this difficult time.

Vivian and family, please accept my sympathies for your loss. I knew Joe from work and after viewing the memories video, I realize why he was a successful father and officer. Joe was dedicated and enthusiastic, his insightfulness and commitment made him a true professional. I remember when we met for dinner and spoke about our experiences, he was always positive in his approach to life and that is something I will always remember. I will miss Joe. I had the privilege of knowing Joe and working with him before I became president of the PBA. After becoming president Joe was an ardent supporter and an advocate for all cops. My condolences go out to his family. I can pay no higher compliment to Joe other than to say he was damn good cop and a better person.    Things I remember about Joe was after speaking on the telephone with him he always said I will call you next week and the weeks turned into months. When we spoke again he always said You know I was going to call you this week. Another famous quote Joe always said you have to pace yourself.
    Rest in peace my friend and remember to watch over us. We hope they play the oldies in heaven. I will call you next week.

Though I did not know Joe, I will mourn his loss.  We were part of the same blue brotherhood of NYPD officers.

I'm very saddened to hear the passing of Grandpa Joseph Corrigan.  He was my grandfather through my wife Nicole.  As I've been reflecting back on the years that I knew him, I keep thinking how lucky I was that I got to meet him and spend time with him.  My grandparents had all passed away by the time I met my wife Nicole (with the exception of my Grandma Esther, who died in 2009).  So having grandparents again was a delight for me--and Grandpa Joe was no exception.

We used to bond over his collection of celebrity autographs, TV guides, trading cards, and other memorabilia.  My favorite artifact of his was a photo he had where he met Cassius Clay (Muhammad Ali before he was Muhammad Ali).  He was so proud of that picture and autograph and it delighted me as a fan of sports like boxing, pro wrestling, and MMA.  Even though he showed me that memorabilia almost every time I saw him, I'd always humor him and look at it again because he was always so excited to show me.  Hey, I'd look at it another 200 times if it meant spending more time with him.  

I'm also grateful for the last 2 memories I have of him.  The first was the Fourth of July weekend back in summer 2014.  Nicole, Robyn, Chris and I spent the holiday weekend with Grandpa Joe and Grandma Vivian (who is also pretty awesome, might I add).  I got to see their new house and how happy they were in their new state of North Carolina.  As always, they showed a boatload of hospitality and made me feel so welcomed, they same way they had done when they lived in Jackson Heights when we'd visit them there.

The other memory I wanted to make note of was actually the fact that he was able to make our wedding back in October 2014.  He was elated to be a part of it and lit up like a Christmas tree when the NYPD pipes and drums band (who he was responsible for hiring) performed during our reception.  It was such an awesome part of our wedding and something I'll never forget.  I'm so happy and grateful that he shared our special day with us.

In closing, I'd like to thank Grandpa Joe for the wonderful memories and treating me like I were his own grandson, even prior to my marriage to Nicole.  You will most certainly be missed and, again, I'm so appreciative that I got to know you.  Rest in Peace.
