JN was born May 15, 1928 in Monroe, NC.
He was known as “the Potpourri man” having sold it at Webb Road flea market for many years.
He was employed by Fruehauf Trailer Co. for 43 years.
He loved working in his garden and playing with his great-grandchildren.
J.N. is survived by his wife Jewell McManus Hartis, daughter Carol Winchester; granddaughter Christie Christian; great grandchildren, Vivian, Olivia, and Seth Christian; sisters Elizabeth Horne, Ercel Horton, Barbara Whitley,and Nadine Deese. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Roger; brothers, Theron and Herman; sisters, Thelma Medlin, Edna Mae Boatright, Fannie Hartis, and Lucille Williams.
A visitation will be held from 6-8pm Sunday, June 14 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd.
Funeral services will be held 1:00p.m. Monday, June 15, at Mint Hill Baptist Church where he was a long time member.
Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
