June Mullis Greene

She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on Nov. 10, 1942, to Rev. Dwight Bruton Mullis and Macie Price Mullis. June graduated with a degree in English from Queens College in Charlotte. She obtained her teaching certificate and taught English at Piedmont Junior High School for a few years; she was also faculty sponsor of the cheerleading squad. After her marriage to Robert Patterson "Bob" Greene, she stopped teaching and became a homemaker.

June and her sister Sylvia were very close, and even after Sylvia and her husband Haywood moved to Florida, June was always ready to lend a sympathetic ear. She was also like a second mother to Haywood and Sylvia's children, Lisa and Christopher; she and Bob had no children.

In later years June became an avid mall walker. She enjoyed the socializing as much as the exercise and made many friends.

June was predeceased by her parents, Dwight and Macie Mullis. She is survived by her husband, Robert Greene; her sister, Sylvia Mullis Smith (Haywood), her niece, Lisa Catharine Smith; her nephew, Christopher Clark Smith (Mara); and her first cousin, Linda Bell Helms.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 7th, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Lakeland Memorial Park in Monroe, NC. All are invited to a luncheon at Hilltop Fish Fare and Steakhouse in Monroe immediately following the service. Arrangements are being handled by McEwen Funeral Service in Mint Hill, NC.

The family is very grateful to Vickki Jordan and the sitters of Gifted Hands Companion Care for their loving care of June in the late stages of her illness.
