Born on September 23, 1950, Larry lived a life defined by loyalty, strength, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He graduated from Garinger High School and carried those early lessons of hard work and perseverance throughout his life.
Larry was known by all who loved him as protective, selfless, and strong. He was the kind of man who showed up without being asked, who put others first, and who faced life’s challenges with quiet determination. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and any day spent surrounded by family. His greatest joy came from being with his grandchildren, who knew him as the best Paw Paw ever.
He will be remembered most as a devoted husband, a loving daddy, and a steady presence whose love was felt in every season of life. Larry’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished and the countless moments of kindness, humor, and strength he shared.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna Ford Stokes; daughters, Ashley Rhea Sterchi and Sarah Beth Laney; grandchildren, Clayton Ford Sterchi, Carter Elliot Sterchi, Brycen Reginald Brooks, and Adam Wayne Laney.
A Celebration of Life will be held at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Charlotte, NC 28227, US, on April 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm.
