Leonard (Len) Gerald Duffy, age 93, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, on July 23, 1932, Len lived a life marked by service, intellect, faith, and devotion to family.
A proud graduate of Saint Raphael Academy (Class of 1950), Len went on to attend the United States Naval Academy, where he graduated in 1955. Len began his career working with computers in the U.S. Navy, later serving as a systems analyst in private industry and for the City of Charlotte. He concluded his career with the Department of the Navy. His commitment to excellence and country was evident throughout his life, both in his military service and his civic involvement.
Len was a faithful member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Mint Hill, NC, where he found spiritual community and purpose. He was also a member of MENSA, the Knights of Columbus, and The American Legion —organizations that reflected his sharp mind, generous spirit, and deep patriotism.
Outside of his professional and civic life, Len found joy in the simple pleasures: sailing across open waters, tending to his garden, camping under the stars, and challenging himself with crossword puzzles, Sudoku, and card games. His curiosity and zest for life were contagious, and he inspired those around him to embrace learning and laughter.
Len is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi Duffy; his children, Thomas (Kris) Duffy, Kevin (Suzanne) Duffy, Lisa Duffy, Andrea (Randy) Parrish, and Janel (Marco) Amador; grandchildren Jason (Chrissy) Duffy, Jemaila Duffy, Jenna (Keith) Caldwell, Kevin Parrish, Sofia and Eva Amador; and great-grandchildren Elijah, Olive, Finnigan and Asher Caldwell, Michael, Malia and Carolina Duffy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard A. and Rosella Q. Duffy; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Duffy; and great-grandson, Scott Duffy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Catholic Church, 9800 Fairview Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227. A reception will follow in the Narthex. Len will be laid to rest at 1:30 PM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Rd., Mint Hill, NC 28227.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Luke Catholic Church Building Fund, the American Red Cross, or the Humane Society of Charlotte.
Len’s legacy of love, wisdom, and service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
