Nancy Jean Samulski-Bishop was born on May 23, 1948, and passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in her home in Charlotte, NC surrounded by family and friends. Prior to residing in North Carolina, Nancy formerly lived in California and Weymouth, MA.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late, Bob Bishop for which they were married 22 years. Caring and loving mother to Shane Bishop and Toni Prombo along with her husband, Jim, and loving Nana to Aaron, Kyle, Sarah, and Katie. She was the devoted daughter of the late, Eugene and Cecelia (Cieslik) Samulski, loving sister of Eileen Frank and her husband, Bill of Weymouth, MA, and their children; Michael, Billy, Rick, and Steve. Survived also by her brother, Paul Samulski and his partner Deb, and nephews, Peter, Andrew, and Tyler of NH. Nancy loved her nephew Michael Frank, his wife Amanda and their children, Madeline and Emma along with nephew, Billy Frank, his wife, Liz and their daughter, Luna. They were all very special in the heart of Auntie Nancy.
Betty Bold of Indian Trail was a very special "sister" friend to Nancy. They were friends for 11 years and they had fun adventures together traveling and laughing whenever possible. Betty was also fondly known as "Nurse Betty" to those who knew them both well. Betty was compassionate, caring, loving, and gentle just like Nancy. Nancy also had many special friends from across the states of NC, CA, NH, and MA. One such friend, Marcia Conroy Gallagher, was her special friend for 71 wonderful years.
Nancy was very active including participating in many social events at Cresswind where she lived such as pickleball, line dancing, swimming, walking, crafts, and concerts. She loved to entertain in her home and did so with grace. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail in the Life Group as well as coordinated with Betty to organize fellowship activities at the FBCIT. Nancy's faith guided her in life and was an essential part of who she was.
Nancy's favorite hobbies included shopping and traveling. She was the best at finding a bargain and was well travelled. Her travels included Poland, Hawaii, the Holy Land, Greece, Ireland, Turkey, Alaska, and Europe. She also loved to go to the beach and up into the mountains.
Nancy retired as VP of Marketing and Contracting from Newport Harbor Hospital Systems in CA, before moving to NC. She also was a 4th Grade Teacher in Plainville, MA, for many years.
The family would like to thank all of those who visited Nancy in the hospital and at home. She loved the cards, flowers, balloons, food (especially the lemon blueberry bread), but most of all, she so appreciated the friendship, fellowship, and loving hugs. This was such an amazing blessing for all of us.
Nancy's visitation hours will be Tuesday, May 14th, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM at McEwen Funeral Service Mint Hill Chapel 7428 Matthews Mint Hill Rd. Mint Hill, NC 28227. A Celebration of Life will follow the visitation at 3:00pm. All are then welcome to stay for some food and fellowship after the services.
