Born on January 22, 1948, Patrick (“Pat”) passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He courageously lived with Parkinson’s for twenty years, maintaining a positive spirit and remarkable discipline through regular exercise, including dance and boxing. Pat was patient and kind with a quick smile for everyone he met.
After serving honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1965-1969, Pat began his civilian career with Dynalectron, where he installed landing systems for the U.S. Air Force at six different bases. He later joined New England Telephone in Vermont, where he met his future wife, Eileen. Pat eventually purchased his father in law’s insurance business, earned his CPCU (Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters) designation, and settled with his family in Newport, Vermont, where they raised their twin sons, Thomas and Brendan.
Pat and Eileen later retired to Charlotte, North Carolina, to be closer to their oldest son and daughter in law. Pat was a devoted sports enthusiast; weekends often found him on the ski slopes, golf course, or tennis court. He also enjoyed hobby woodworking and took great joy in fixing anything that needed repair.
Pat leaves behind his loving wife Eileen of 50 years; his son Thomas and wife Sunni; his son Brendan; and his grandson, Jacob. He is also survived by his brothers James and wife Maureen, Frank and wife Debbie, and Thomas; his sisters Mary, Rita, Jane, Anna, and Gigi; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Also, his special caregiver, Lisa Jones, who could always make him smile.
He is predeceased by his mother, Katheryn and his father, James; his brothers Donald and John; and his sister, Rose.
Interment will be held in the summer in Vermont. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Doctors Without Borders or a charity of your choice.
