She was born in Charlotte, NC on March 19, 1932. Peggy graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. She was married to John H. Vaughn in November of 1969. Peggy worked in the Laboratory for Kraft Foods for 30 years. She was a member of Plaza Baptist Church and had a passion for her family, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her sisters, Nell Sustar and Martha “Bobbie” Jetton and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband, John H. Vaughn; brothers, John Newell, DP Newell, Bill Newell, Van Newell, Fred Newell, Rudy Newell, Donnie Newell and sisters, Helen Smith, Mary Kelly and Betty Dearmon.
We will miss our loving sister and aunt. She will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
A family visitation will be held from 11:00 am until 11:45 am on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227.
