

Raymond Beaufort Draughn 93; went home to be with his Lord and Savior on December 23, 2025 surrounded by his family. Raymond was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Matthews, where he served as an usher, Sunday School teacher, and deacon. He is survived by his wife of 75 years Hollie Flippin Draughn, one daughter Anita Johnston, two granddaughters Emily Johnston, and Melissa Smith(Ross), one great grandson Carson Jones, one sister Nanny Lou Kidd and one son-in-law Jim Henderson.
He retired from Bell and Howell company, Phillipsburg division in 1994. Raymond was honored as “Service Man of the year” three times for his excellent service to customers.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Maggie Jones Draughn of Surry County, three sisters and three brothers, and three children Linda D Henderson, infants Bobby Raymond Draughn and Jennie Lee Draughn.
Raymond served in the United States Army for 2 years stateside during the Korean War. He graduated from Copeland High School of Surry County where he met the love of his life Hollie Flippin.
The family will receive friends at McEwen funeral home in Mint Hill on December 26, 2025 from 1:00-2:30 with a service to follow. The family will have a private graveside service.
