He was born on February 26, 1949 in Norwich, CT to the late Richard Ivins and Lorraine Collard Mager.
Richard retired after 22 years in the Army as a Master Sergeant. He then worked with G4S Security as a Site Manager for 14 years.
Richard is survived by his wife of 22 years, Barbara D. Mager; children, Jeremy Mager (Shenon), Jason Mager (fiancée’ Cindy Rodriguez), and Erinrose Mager; four grandchildren; siblings, Donna Siluk, Gary Mager (Kathy), Ronnie Mager, Michelle Hauenstein (Bill), Paul Mager and Paula Mager.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, James Mager.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at McEwen Funeral Service-Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227 with a visitation held one hour prior to the service.
