

Walter Whitworth Glenn Jr., 84, of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina passed to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 following a short illness. He was born on June 17, 1939 to Walter Sr and Jane Elizabeth Glenn in Newell, North Carolina.
Walter graduated from East Mecklenburg High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, class of 1957. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force Reserve from 1956-1962. He was employed by Duke Power Co, Motors Insurance Corp, and the North Carolina DOT. After retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of hunting, fishing, woodworking, and camping.
Walter was a lifelong member of Newell Presbyterian Church which his father helped to build. He served as past fire chief of Newell Volunteer Fire Department, served as Past Master of Newell Masonic Lodge #739 and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Member of the Oasis Temple of the Shrine.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John Glenn.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Beverly Glenn; his son, Jeff Glenn (Jodi); his daughter, Lori Marasco (Chris); his grandchildren, Michael Glenn, Tyler Cassen, Amber Bell (Jordan), Corey Glenn, Nicholas Marasco, and Cassidy Glenn; his great-grandchildren, Lilly Bell, Carly Bell, Aubrey Bell, and Boone Bell; his brother, James Glenn; and many other loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Homegoing service will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 3, 2023 at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews - Mint Hill Road, Mint Hill, NC. A visitation will be held prior from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Newell Presbyterian Church Cemetery, 1500 Rocky River Road W, Charlotte, NC 28213.
