Betsy recently graduated from Ooltewah Middle School, where she was honored with the citizenship award at graduation. She was also a past recipient of the county-wide award for courage when she attended Wallace A. Smith Elementary School.
Betsy gave her life to Jesus Christ at age 8 and was a member of Ooltewah Baptist Church. She faced many obstacles in her life, but never complained about them. Instead, she had a gift for bringing people together and giving them a glimpse of God’s love through her. Betsy touched so many lives in her brief 15 years by her giving nature, her mercy and her genuine concern for all she met to know Jesus.
She is survived by her father, Phillip “Phil” Turner of Chickamauga, Georgia; her mother, Brenna Lype, her stepfather, Bob Lype, her brothers, Bryson and Braden Lype all of Ooltewah; her paternal grandparents, Rev. & Mrs. C. Russell Turner, serving the Lord as missionaries in the Cayman Islands; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Helen “Betsy” Eskew of Fairburn, Georgia; her step-grandmother, Margaret Lype of Rogersville, Tennessee; and a number of loving uncles, aunts and cousins.
