Carol Ann Sample

She was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Howell McKay and Mary Margaret Abele. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Norman Abele.

She was a member for more than 26 years of Central Baptist Church in Woodmore and for the past 19 years at Woodland Park Baptist Church. Carol was a leader in several church and charitable organizations, most particularly her involvement in the WMU at Central Baptist Church.

A graduate of Chattanooga State College she received an Associate of Science Degree in Accounting Technology graduating Magna Cum Laude..

Survivors are her husband of 47 years, Jack B. Sample, daughter, Anne Marie (Andy) Covington, of Birmingham, AL, son, David Bruce Sample, Newport Beach, CA, two grandchildren, Keeley Anne Covington and Andrew Covington, of Birmingham, AL, brother, Joe (Cindy) Abele, of Knoxville, TN, sister, Mary Mack (Don) LaMaster, of Knoxville, TN, and sister-in-law, Beverly Abele, of Oak Ridge, TN.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Woodland Park Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Barber officiating. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.

Active pallbearers will be Tom Frazier, Jerry Daniels, Emerson Russell, Harry Hudson, Joe Abele, Richard Burke, Ronnie Kennedy and Jack Neighbors.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hearth Hospice of Chattanooga and caregivers at Home Comfort, Patsy King and Barbara Bates and Son Life Ministry at Woodland Park Baptist Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Building Fund at Woodland Park Baptist Church, 6735 Standifer Gap Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 3 - 7 p.m. at the funeral home and on Monday from 1-3 p.m. at the church.
