

He was the son of the late Clifford “Shorty” Grant and Elsie Grant and was preceded in death by his brother, James Russell Grant and son-in-law, Raymond James Steinmetz.
Charles was a 1962 graduate of Central High School. He was a lieutenant in the U S Army having served in Korea. He was a former employee of American National Insurance and CUNA Mutual Insurance. He retired in January 2025 from Hamilton County Tire Recovery Center after 23 years of service.
He was of the Baptist faith and a former member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge No. 558, currently Brainerd Masonic Lodge No. 736 F&AM and the Alhambra Shrine.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda Bacon Grant, of Harrison, TN, daughter, Belinda Steinmetz, of Ooltewah, TN, four grandchildren, Taylor (Nick) Watts, Allyson (Nathan) Barbee, Jamie (Morgan) Harvey, Aaron (Sarah) Steinmetz, ten great grandchildren, Eliza, Gentry, Emerson, Finley, Georgia Ray, Haize Lee, Benjamin, Elijah, Madelynn, Abigail, sister, Rachel Johnston, of Chattanooga, TN, two sisters-in-law, Viola Bacon Sujkowski, of McDonald, TN, Jeanette Bacon Lipps, of Ooltewah, TN, niece, Jennifer Johnston, of Chattanooga, TN, and several other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Don Warrington officiating. Burial will follow in Hamilton Memorial Gardens with masonic rites being conducted at the cemetery by David Bacon.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, September 8, 2025, at the funeral home.
