

Doris Lillian Durham, 91, of Georgetown, TN, entered Heaven’s gates to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 8, 2011. She was a prayer warrior with an amazing level of faith as well as an evangelist. Her love for others was evident in everything she did. Doris was a retired Tupperware distributor and was the daughter of the late Grady and Mary Emma Dickson. She was the wife of the late Griggs Walker Durham and was also preceded in death by her brother Ralph Dickson. Survivors include her son, Lindsay Durham (Donna Achey), Chattanooga; daughter Kathy (John) Virdin, Ringgold, GA; granddaughter, Katie (Josh) Carroll, Georgetown, TN; two grandsons, John (Hilary) Virdin, West Chester, PA and Andrew Virdin, Boulder, CO; two great-grandsons, Ross Virdin and William Virdin; two sisters, Evelyn Howington, Greenwood, MS and Helen Yarbrough, Atlanta, GA; several nieces. The family would like extend a special thanks to loving caregivers, Reta Klein, Deborah Loemaker, Lisa Hamby, Marie Welch, Virgie Clevenger and Hospice of Chattanooga, Family Home Care and Hospice of Cleveland. Many thanks to her special neighbor and friend, Sara Gamble who took special care of her home and helped in multiple ways. A special thanks also to her close friend Julia Harmon who loved her and helped her for so many years. There are too many friends to name who helped and blessed her. The family extends a heartfelt thanks and love to them all. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with Bruce Daugherty officiating. Interment will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
