Edith Walker Oliver, 86, of Ooltewah, TN, passed away Sunday, April 15, 2012 at her residence. She was born July 14, 1925 at her parents home in Ooltewah and married Jack Oliver at age 15. They moved to Harrison where their kids were born. At her husband’s passing, she moved her family back to Ooltewah. Edith worked for many years at Woolworth’s in Eastgate, then later at Bi-Lo (Red Food) on Highway 58 until she retired. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church where she had many friends and always enjoyed cooking at many events. She was the daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. G.P. Walker and was wife of the late Jack Oliver. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Dodson; brothers, Bruce Walker and Winfred Walker. Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Jack) Jones, Sale Creek and Jackie (Steve) Inman, Tiftonia; son-in-law, Glenn (Wanda) Dodson; six grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brother, Willis (Berdie) Walker; several nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fairview Baptist with the Rev. Ronnie Dodson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 7414 Old Lee Highway.
