

Frank “Skip” Brannen, Jr. passed away August 21st at the age of 68.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Luella Brannen.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy Brannen, children, Pamela Beuoy and Frank “Trip” Brannen, III (Jennifer), siblings Renie Brown (Fred), Betty Rutherford (Jerry), John “Moonpie” Brannen, and six nieces and nephews.
Skip was a member of First Christian Church for over 30 years, where he served in numerous capacities from youth volunteer to president. His contributions to the church’s partnership with Chattanooga Room in the Inn is still felt today. Over the years, his work with Room in the Inn included volunteer organizer to President of the Board.
Skip’s passion for competitive swimming began as a child and continued until his recent illness. Throughout his life he competed against, trained with, or coached other swimmers in Chattanooga and across the Southeast. His dedication to the sport and the swimming community was inspiring. Skip was inducted into the Greater Chattanooga Sports Hall of Fame. Impressed with the Sports Hall of Fames dedication to athletes who excelled, he served as vice president until his death. He was a beloved active member of the Tennessee River Rats organization.
A celebration of Skip’s life service will be held at First Christian Church, 650 McCallie Avenue, Chattanooga, 37403 on September 7th at 6 PM with visitation from 4-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to either First Christian Church, Chattanooga Room in the Inn, or to howardshope.org, a charity which provides free swim lessons to underprivileged local kids and across the state of TN.
