

She was born in Maryville, Tenn. to the late Gertrude Edwards and James Wilson. She is predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Dorsey and Sue Wilson.
Gayle grew up on a farm in Monroe County, Tenn., tending the family’s chickens and vegetable garden. She attended Madisonville High School, Hiwassee College, and earned an accounting degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She worked for T.V.A. in Knoxville and Chattanooga. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and longtime secretary for the Evangeline and Brainerd Chapters. She was also a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, assistant leader of Troop 155, and bookkeeper at Moccasin Bend Girl Scout Council.
Gayle loved working with her hands, gardening, sewing, needlework, crafts, camping, and solving puzzles. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her two children, Gary McClellan and Brenda (Don) Eberhart; their father, Forney McClellan; Gayle's two grandchildren, Blake and Daniel Eberhart; her brother, Lamar (Judy) Wilson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A visitation for Gayle will be held from 2 p.m. till 3 p.m., Sat., Jun. 17, 2023, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m.
